The Big Wrexham Picnic

Stand Tall and the Welsh Refugee Council are working together at an event in Wrexham called The Big Wrexham Picnic. Artwork in the form of a large canvas will be put together by all those who want to express what home means to them.

Sekki and Steve join Olena Baseiko, who has worked with an artist to make the design, so previous experience and art skills are not a requirement to join in. Come to Bellevue Park and share your stories with us!

Different organisations in Wales are hosting this event together, so there are lots of people to see and meet! Feel free to bring food to this picnic and enjoy an afternoon of arts, crafts, sports, music, science, and storytelling to celebrate ‘Our Home’ as part of national Refugee Week.

The event starts at 1pm, and all activities are FREE to join.

Growing Together

Growing Together

Growing Together is a collaborative project that celebrates the restorative power of the community, with members engaging in small, joyful everyday activities out in the sunshine. A beautiful day with fresh air, and families from all over Flintshire. One highlight of the day a group effort - gamely cooking a massive lunch with different courses of salads and iterations of the much-celebrated Ukrainian vareniki. Volunteers and participants will collaborate together to prepare the ingredients for the dumpling wrappers and various fillings to go inside, as the children explore the rambling gardens of the Outside Lives site. Photobingo will be played throughout the day, with forest school and art sessions for the younger members of the group. A warm exchange of cultures amidst the universal ritual of breaking bread together.
